Aralia ‘Fabian’ – Polyscias scutellaria ‘Fabian’
Aralia ‘Fabian’ is a tropical houseplant with a compact, sculptural growth habit. Its woody stems support dense foliage made up of thick, glossy, rounded leaves in a deep shade of green. As it matures, it develops the appearance of a small indoor tree.
Light
Provide bright indirect light. It can tolerate medium light, but good light encourages denser, more balanced growth. Avoid intense direct sunlight.
Watering
Allow the top layer of soil to dry slightly between waterings, then water thoroughly and let any excess drain away. Avoid keeping the soil consistently wet.
Care
Aralia ‘Fabian’ appreciates relatively stable temperatures, good ambient humidity and rich, airy, well-draining soil. Protect it from cold drafts and sudden environmental changes. Light pruning can encourage a denser, more branched shape.
Good to know
‘Fabian’ is a horticultural selection of Polyscias scutellaria, commonly sold under the name Aralia. Its stems become increasingly woody as the plant matures, enhancing its small tropical tree appearance. Like other Polyscias, it is best kept out of reach of pets that may chew on the foliage.
The decorative planter shown in the photos is not included. The plant is sold in its nursery pot.
