Maranta leuconeura – Green Prayer Plant

Green Maranta leuconeura is a tropical plant valued for its decorative foliage in multiple shades of green. Depending on current shipments, its leaves may range from fresh lime green to deeper shades and display a variety of distinctive markings and contrasts.

Its low, dense and gently trailing growth habit makes it an attractive choice for adding texture and movement to an indoor plant collection.

Light
Provide bright indirect light. It also tolerates more moderate light, but avoid intense direct sunlight, which can damage or fade the foliage.

Watering
Keep the potting mix slightly moist, allowing the surface to dry slightly between waterings. Avoid both prolonged dryness and consistently waterlogged conditions around the roots.

Care
Maranta appreciates good ambient humidity and relatively stable temperatures. Use a rich, light and well-draining potting mix. If leaf edges regularly turn brown, filtered or low-mineral water may be preferable.

Good to know
Like other Maranta, it is commonly known as a Prayer Plant because of the daily movement of its foliage. Its leaves may rise or noticeably change position as light levels decrease. Shades and patterns can vary according to the individual plant and current shipments. It is generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs.
