Fittonia features colourful foliage covered in delicate contrasting veins. Compact and vibrant, it thrives in medium to bright indirect light, good humidity and soil kept slightly moist.
Fittonia – Assorted Varieties
Fittonia is a compact tropical plant prized for its striking foliage and intricate network of contrasting veins. Depending on the variety and availability, its leaves may feature different shades of green, white, pink or red.
Its compact, spreading growth habit makes it an excellent choice for small spaces, plant arrangements and anywhere a touch of colour is desired.
Light
Provide medium to bright indirect light. Avoid intense direct sunlight, which can damage the foliage. Insufficient light may reduce the intensity of its colouring.
Watering
Keep the soil slightly moist without allowing it to become waterlogged. Let the surface dry slightly between waterings, but avoid allowing the soil to dry out completely. Fittonia can quickly wilt when thirsty and will generally recover after a thorough watering.
Care
Fittonia appreciates good ambient humidity and relatively stable temperatures. Occasionally pinching the tips of the stems can encourage denser, more compact growth.
Good to know
Foliage colours, patterns and shades vary according to the varieties available and current shipments. Fittonia is generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs.
The decorative planter shown in the photos is not included. The plant is sold in its nursery pot.
