Dracaena sanderiana – Sanderiana Dracaena

Dracaena sanderiana is a tropical plant valued for its elegant growth habit and slender foliage. Its green leaves may feature lighter shades or margins depending on the variety, creating a bright and graphic appearance.

When grown conventionally in soil, it gradually develops leafy stems and makes a versatile, relatively easy-care houseplant.

Light
Provide bright indirect light. Dracaena sanderiana can tolerate more moderate light, but growth is generally stronger and foliage maintains its colouring better with good light. Avoid intense direct sunlight.

Watering
Allow the potting mix to dry slightly between waterings. Water thoroughly, then allow excess moisture to drain away. Avoid keeping the roots consistently waterlogged.

Care
Use a light, well-draining potting mix. Dracaena sanderiana appreciates good ambient humidity but generally adapts well to typical indoor conditions. Remove damaged or yellowing leaves as needed.

Good to know
Dracaena sanderiana is also the species commonly used to produce the well-known Lucky Bamboo. When grown conventionally in soil, however, it develops a very different appearance from the shaped canes sold under that name. Like other Dracaena, it is toxic to cats and dogs if ingested.
