Cupressus macrocarpa ‘Goldcrest’ – Lemon Cypress
Cupressus macrocarpa ‘Goldcrest’, commonly known as Lemon Cypress, is an ornamental conifer admired for its vibrant lime-green to golden-yellow foliage. Its delicate branches release a pleasant lemon fragrance when gently rubbed.
With its naturally conical shape, Lemon Cypress resembles a miniature Christmas tree. It brings a fresh, colourful botanical touch to holiday decor, whether displayed on its own or decorated with small ornaments.
Light
Prefers very bright light, ideally with a few hours of direct sunlight. Indoors, place it near a well-lit window.
Watering
Water when the surface of the soil begins to dry. Maintain consistent moisture without allowing water to collect at the bottom of the pot.
Care
Lemon Cypress prefers cool temperatures and good air circulation. Keep it away from heat sources such as radiators. It can be kept indoors temporarily during the holidays but grows best outdoors in a suitable climate.
Good to know
Cupressus ‘Goldcrest’ is not hardy enough to survive winter outdoors in Quebec. It can be grown in a container and moved outside during the warmer months, then brought into a cool, bright space before significant frost.
The decorative planter shown in the photos is not included. The plant is sold in its nursery pot.
