Ming Aralia – Polyscias fruticosa
Ming Aralia is a tropical houseplant valued for its elegant silhouette and finely divided foliage. Its numerous small green leaves grow along woody, branching stems, gradually giving the plant the appearance of a delicate, densely foliaged miniature tree.
Light
It thrives in bright indirect light, which encourages dense, balanced growth. It can adapt to more moderate light, although growth will generally be slower. Avoid intense direct sunlight.
Watering
Allow the surface of the soil to dry slightly between waterings, then water thoroughly and let excess water drain away. Avoid both prolonged dryness and excess moisture around the roots. Reduce watering slightly when growth slows.
Care
Ming Aralia appreciates warmth, good ambient humidity and a rich, airy, well-draining growing medium. It prefers relatively stable conditions and may react to cold drafts or sudden environmental changes. Occasional pruning helps maintain its shape and encourages branching.
Good to know
Ming Aralia is botanically known as Polyscias fruticosa. Its finely divided foliage and naturally branching habit make it easy to distinguish from other Aralia. As it matures, its stems become increasingly woody, enhancing its miniature tropical tree appearance.
The decorative planter shown in the photos is not included. The plant is sold in its nursery pot.
