Amaryllis – Hippeastrum

Amaryllis is a flowering bulb admired for its spectacular blooms and elegant appearance. Its large, trumpet-shaped flowers emerge atop tall stems in a variety of colours, including white, red, pink and beautiful two-toned combinations.

A holiday favourite, Amaryllis brings colour and sophistication to Christmas decor. Whether displayed on its own or incorporated into a botanical arrangement, it creates a striking focal point and can bloom again in future years with proper care.

Light
Prefers bright, indirect light with some gentle direct sunlight. Good lighting encourages healthy growth and beautiful blooms.

Watering
Water moderately when the surface of the soil feels dry. Gradually increase watering as leaves and flower stalks develop. Avoid waterlogging the soil or soaking the bulb.

Care
Place in a bright location away from heat sources. Rotate the pot regularly to encourage straight growth. After flowering, remove the spent flower stalk while keeping the leaves intact to allow the bulb to replenish its energy reserves.

Good to know
Holiday Amaryllis generally belongs to the Hippeastrum genus. The bulb can be kept for future blooms. This plant is toxic to cats and dogs, especially the bulb.

The decorative planter shown in the photos is not included. The plant is sold in its nursery pot.
